Kathryn is responsible for the general and business management of the Practice including the strategic development, finance, clinical and data quality, and performance management of the clinical and administrative teams. She will be able to help with any administrative and non-medical matters, and is also available to discuss suggestions or complaints.

Together, Kathryn and Karen deal with the day-to-day running of the Practice including its operations, premises, IT, and the management of our Reception and house-keeping teams.  Karen manages the GP and Nurse rotas. She manages all internal and external meetings to ensure the team meets regularly to review processes and plan for future developments and improvements to our service.

Karen has a vital role in liaising with external representatives including University of Bristol with whom we have links to offer training for medical students in Years 1-5. She also ensures all staff have both internal and external mandatory training in areas including resuscitation, safe-guarding vulnerable adults and children, information and clinical governance as well as other facilities training such as fire safety.

Jan is responsible for overseeing the general house-keeping duties, the operation of the MASTA travel clinics, as well as managing the private occupational medicals which are performed by a number of the GPs here.



Clinical Co-ordinator - Paula Allen

Our Clinical Coordinator, Paula, also works part-time as a Health Care Assistant, focusing largely on our patients with Learning Disabilities. She also runs the NHS Health Checks, which are preventative checks for patients aged between 45-75 years old.

Paula has a valuable link between health and social services, and assists patients and their families who need assistance or equipment following discharge from hospital, supporting them in settling back home.

She also manages many of the clinical areas in the practice including clinical audit and performance, care of the elderly especially palliative care, and provides support to the practice Nursing Team, as well as helping to run our 6-weekly Carers Group.


Medical Secretaries - Bev Reeves, Zena Hayward

There are two secretaries, Beverley and Zena, who work 40 hours per week between them and have been specially trained to deal with your enquiries. They provide extremely important links with the doctors and also with hospitals, solicitors, insurance companies, employers and many other health care organisations. They are actively involved in ensuring patients receive an efficient, integrated service between Primary and Secondary Care.

The medical secretaries aim to clear all their typing of non-urgent referral letters within three working days of receipt from the doctors. They are also on hand to help patients with a new system called "Choose & Book". This is where patients are able to choose which hospital they would like to be referred to, and the secretaries will help patients to book their own referral. Urgent referrals, like Cancer, are dealt with through a "fast-track" system, and these are done on the same day as the doctor makes the referral.

The team is available between 9.00 and 16.00 to deal with any patient referrals and queries.


Practice Administrators - Sandra Jillard, Karen Scott

There are two full-time Practice Administrators, Sandra and Karen, who are kept extremely busy with keeping on top of the general practice administration. They are well-trained and skilled members of staff.

The team manage many of our services including cervical smear recalls, breast screening, and code all of the information the Practice receives from external health care providers. They are also vital in summarising new patients notes - converting them from old handwritten or paper records to ensure all relevant clinical data is computerised. This helps to ensure that patients get the best chance for up-to-date, good quality care and the ability to access services most appropriate to their needs.


Caretaking Team - Mark Manley, Steve Fry

We have a Caretaker and Cleaner, Mark and Steve, who although may be a bit more "behind the scenes", are invaluable in keeping the practice well-maintained, functional and clean. We would be at a loss without them both.
